"Magic Mountain - Visits to the present" Lecture series to mark the anniversary of "100 years of Thomas Mann's 'The Magic Mountain'"
100 years after its publication, Thomas Mann's novel "The Magic Mountain" is at the centre of a public lecture series in Lübeck. High-calibre speakers will look at the novel from the perspectives of literary studies, contemporary history, medical history and music.

A series of events organised by the University of Music Lübeck (MHL) and the University of Lübeck (UzL) as part of Lübeck hoch 3 (LH3) in cooperation with the Buddenbrookhaus/Heinrich-und-Thomas-Mann-Zentrum.
In addition to direct broadcasts, recordings of past events from the Great Hall can also be seen at MHL-Live, including ceremonial semester openings, concerts of the Brahms Festival and the MHL Revue as a film around current major sporting events.
In the MHL Werkstatt, MHL students present project work developed and implemented as part of their studies, including a concert film on "Miró and Music" and a podcast series on "Be a Change-Maker: Facets of Music Education".
One of the annually recurring highlights in the MHL event calendar is the Brahms Festival. In 2021, MHL lecturers and students will present the "Spring Awakening!" in music in live recordings.
"Thomas Mann's 'Doctor Faustus' in Word and Sound" Thomas Mann's "Doktor Faustus" is the focus of a lecture series starting on Tuesday, January 5 as part of the "Lübeck hoch 3" initiative. For five consecutive Tuesdays, speakers from the University of Music Lübeck (MHL), the University of Lübeck, and guest Thomas Mann experts will explore the Lübeck writer's masterpiece in word and sound.
The MHL Hörbar features recordings and sound recordings of various kinds. The radio play with music "Festival fatal - Théâtre radiophonique", which students of the French course Sophie Romain developed and produced as part of their studies at the MHL, kicks off the programme.
An international student body: Around 500 students from 41 nations come to study music at the MHL. Some of them take us to their homes and show us what they were busy with during the Corona Crisis in the summer semester of 2020, among other things.
