Major Subject Singing
Presentation of at least four works of different stylistic periods
Instruments and vocals from the field of popular music (drum kit, bass, Jazz and pop piano, electric guitar, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, vocals)
Presentation of at least three works of rock, pop, jazz, soul, funk, Latin and world music. The choice of works must include a slow song, as well as an up-tempo piece. The ability of interpretation and improvisation and technical skills should be clearly recognizable. Sight-reading of a simple piece (lead sheet also acceptable)
For jazz and pop piano, electric guitar, saxophone, trumpet and trombone
Additional presentation of a classical piece
Voice (when not singing is not the major subject)
Presentation any vocal composition (song, choral, chanson, spiritual)
Applied piano playing (if piano is not the major subject)
Applied piano combines the existing compulsory subject "Piano" with the subject "Practical Piano Playing for School”.
- Preparation of three easy to moderate piano pieces from different periods (examples: JS Bach, Inventions, Joseph Haydn, Sonatas, Frédéric Chopin Mazurkas, Béla Bartók, Microcosm)
- Preparation of two songs from different stylistic areas: Folksong, European folklore. Popular Music and Jazz with one’s own accompaniment and using your own voice
- Sight-reading of a simple piece
- Cadence play: A cadence with an extended subdominant form and a dominant seventh chord form is expected, with key signatures of up to two signs
- Harmonization of a simple song melody (with main functions)
If piano is the major subject, points 2 to 5 must be presented.
Speaking
Prepared presentation of a prose text or a poem of choice
Conversation Test
Determination of reflection and verbalization ability based on a conversation about
- The reasons, which have led the applicant to choose the school music program,
- Conceptions of the profession and tasks of the music teacher,
- Conception of contemporary music education in schools and other practices of music teaching
- Ideas about the future practice of music teaching aspired to in school and other social environments
Group Test
Prepared guidance of a study group of about 10 minutes duration: musical playing, body or object percussion, instrumental or choral score, dance or similar learning group group activities, at one’s own discretion: students and applicants of the Bachelor of Arts "Teaching Music" (about 8 to 20 people); basic musical skills, in particular sight-singing and playing can generally be required
