The requirements in the Master Degree in Teaching Music (Master of Education) require an above average level of career-related, personal and social skills.
Applicants should possess a natural authority and show that they have the ability to teach music in schools.
The aptitude test consists of a thirty-minute colloquium with the following parts:
- a) One of interdisciplinary presentation with artistic, scientific and educational elements
- b) School-appropriate piano playing
- c) Conversation, in which the candidates are expected to demonstrate superior artistic, scientific and pedagogical skills as well as verbalization and reflection abilities with respect to musical-didactic subjects.
a) The artistic part of the presentation can be done on the main instrument, second instrument or vocally. Furthermore, it is possible to integrate portions from the "Practical School Instrumental Performance" (piano, guitar, percussion, etc.) in that part of the exam.
b) For the exam part, " Practical School Piano Playing," the applicant shall prepare two songs or songs from various stylistic areas. The presentation must contain piano and vocal performances combined with eath other. Another element of the test part is sight-reading. Here, three options can be selected: standard, pop song or song, each with chord symbols.
c) The interview includes questions on the exam sections a) and b), as well as current topics in the teaching of music.
